We may be healthy in mind and body and still not be happy. Taking care of our soul, is about developing the spiritual side of ourselves. Connecting with ourselves and with some unifying force (such as God, nature or some spiritual symbol) can bring peace and meaning to our lives, even through hard times. Ideas to help us connect with our soul include:
- Take time to be by yourself everyday - Sounds impossible? Taking time for yourself each and every day can make a big difference in your life, start out small if it seems too much. Even five minutes a day can make a difference in the rest of your day. The busier you are the more you need to do this. Things you might do at this time:
- Take a walk
- Take a walk
- Read something inspiring
- Pray or meditate
- Paint
- Write in a journal
- Anything that brings a feeling of peace and happiness
- Spend time in nature
- Do something kind for someone else and don't let them know who did it
- Develop and attitude of gratitude - everyday think of something you are thankful for. Look for things throughout the day to be thankful for. Give thanks for the small things that make you feel happy, a pretty flower, the smile of a young child, a visit with a special friend, whatever touches you.
